22BR powder choice

Just curious, what is everyones choice for powder in the 22BR?
I am running Tac and Varget. I really like how Tac meters.
Varget makes me cuss sometimes....lol

When I had a 22BR I ran IMR 4451 and H4895 because that’s all I had and it was impossible to get anything else. I shot 80.5 Fullbores and 85.5 Hybrids. Both were around 3100-3150 in a 27” barrel.

I'm running with the usual culprit of varget topped with a 75gr vld at 3155fps out of an auto dispenser.

Accuracy is just absolutely mind blowing. I giggle like a 10yr old everytime I get behind the little 22br, I can say it is my favorite to shoot...just love shooting the little guy.

8208XBR is my current favorite. Small groups and very temp stable. As good or better than Varget in this respect. Another great choice is AA2015 BR for stellar accuracy, just not as temp stable. If AA2015 won't shoot, there is a rifle problem or the driver is off his game. An amazing little cartridge.

Great feedback. I am shooting a 52 gr Berger FB. Found a nice sweet spot at 29 grains with the Tac. Barrel still needs some time to settle in as it only has about 150 rounds on it. Might not be quite that total. Have to take a look at my log book on that rifle, but its less than 175 I know for sure.

I changed out my Krieger 12t barrel for a 8t to shoot 69gr bullets and I have never seen a barrel so finicky on powder choice. Still can't seem to find a combo that is going work with the 69gr Matchkings.

Yes,, I 've heard 8208 yields excellent results...I just find it very difficult to track down.

I went with H335 as advised by a few here to help extend throat life. I run 40-53 grain bullets is it.

Unfortunately, most suggestions don't matter, because powders like 8208 are unobtanium for 4 years now. Pick one that is consistently available!

Thankfully I have several of these powders to test with. No 8208 but cant remember the last time I seen any on the shelf for sale.
With my 12 twist Krieger barrel, it seems to like the 52 gr Berger. Playing with some seating depths now to really find the best mix. Tac at 29.5 grains makes a nice group at 100. Was seating pretty long to start with, but have settled on just barely touching the lands. Will see how that works out. I am quickly seeing why this can become a favorite caliber to shoot.
