22BR No turn neck question.

I recently sent a 700 action to Pac-Nor for a rebarrel in 22BR.
I'm building this rig for Varmints so I'd prefer to not turn necks.
I had Pac-Nor send me a drawing of their reamer so I could send it and my 22BR die to Forster to be honed to match. Steve at Forster told me that they prefered actual drawings, rather than fired cases so that's what I'm doing.
My question is,,,,,, will I still need to turn the neck and shoulder, per the article on this site reguarding the 22BR) after necking the 6BR brass down?
After doing a search, I see some say yes and some say no. Imagine that on the internet????????
P-N's drawings show their no turn 22BR neck at .254, so do you think I will get the build-up of brass at the neck/shoulder area that some talk about???
I'm sure I'll leave something out, but I'm using Lapua brass and Forster 22BR match dies.
I've never necked brass down before so any suggestions as far as lube or prep would be appreciated, as well as opinions on neck turning tools. I'm looking at the Sinclair NT-1000 tool with the expander body, if I do have to neck turn to clean up the brass.
Hope this makes sence, and naturally "Thanks In Advance".

RePete: Regarding neck turning tools, rather than repeat myself, and others, go to the "tools, rests, gadgets" forum, scroll down to "neck turning tools". I also have a 22BR although it is a .251" chamber neck dia., so turning is req'd.:)

Charlie:
Get it set up the way you want it!
I wanted a "no turn" 22 BR but "everybody" seemed to have a reamer that required neck turning. Not what I wanted!!
Ordered a barrel "then" was told that their reamer required neck turning!:,
Got the barrel and had "Preacher" cut the chamber .
My loaded rounds are .250 to .251 and he had a "new" never used reamer with a .254 neck and a short throat.
He did a "super" job and the necks don't need turning.
40gr. Noslers well seat about 1/3 rd. into the neck. Anything heavier should be real fun to shoot.
Keep going till you get what you want!
I might get into neck turninmg at a later date but for now I'de rather spend time at the bench, pulling the trigger, than turning necks!:D
As far as necking down the 6 BR brass, piece of cake! One pass in a "full length" 22 BR die and you're done! Never cared for Imperial Sizing Die Wax but the stuff works great! Just a little goes a long way. Did 50 last night! ;)

I asked about the same question. See

Let me know how it works out.

Hey,,,,,,,,,, Thanks everybody. I'm not a frequent flyer on this site, so I'm not familiar with the different forums, yet).
Mikie.. Your advice is well taken. That's why I tried to give as much info in my post as posible. Like I said, "this is a Varmint rig". Therefore I want it to be as user friendly as possible. I had the large bolt face 700 action and the 22BR seemed to be a good use for it without being a radical wildcat.
Sounds like Pac-Nor's .254 reamer is just about right, for a no-turn neck. I'm hoping that having the die honed to the reamer prints is going to make a pretty nice fit.
What I'm mainly concerned about is the little donut that builds up at the point where the neck and shoulder meet after necking down the 6mm brass.
I learned alot by reading the articles and arcives on this site, and that donut seems to be of concern to alot of folks. I can even see it in one of the pix in an article. Soooo, if it is something I need to clean up I would appreciate any advice on that task.
fdshuster's link was helpful reguarding the tools of the trade. I'll order a catalogue from K&M Monday. Thank you sir. I'm also confident that anything Sinclair makes is pretty good, and would be fine for removing the donut. I'm a tool junkie, so I'll probably end up with one or the other eventually anyway.
I'll be back with more questions as the build progresses.
Thanks again.

Oh Yea Mikie,,,,,,,,I've always liked Imperial wax. Fortunatly I have it on hand and am familiar with how easy it is to over lube with it.

Repete,
You'll have better luck with the K&M neck turner with the donut remover on the end,
and double check that Pac-Nor has a honest .254 no turn neck reamer before you have them do the chamber.

Hi I have a 22BR it is a .254 neck. As far as I am concerned tight necks are for bench guns not a varmint rig. I just run the brass into a full length die and go kill things. I personally like the 55 grain vmax or BT and Win748 works great! Happy trails Mark
