22BR Freebore

Does anyone have any freebore recommendations for using a JLK 90 grain VLD in a 22BR?
Also would like to know the freebore recommendation for a Sierra 90 grain bullet.

Thanks,

Joe

I have used .040" FB with 80 gr Sierra and found it to be great....sooo...if you know how much longer the bearing surface is than a 80 gr Sirrra...just add the diff....( the Sierra is .200)...or call Dave Kiff...he can help with the math and give recomendations....Roger

My 22BR reamer is for the 75 gr Amax, and the free bore is .060......
it's .030 for the light weight 50 gr's and under..
Thats what Kiff had to say about it......

This is all very interesting. I am gathering parts for a 22 BRX that I will shoot 45 to 55 grain varmint bullets out of. I have emailed PTG and the gal wrote back that .010 would be the freebore to use. Not sure if it was a typo or not. I plan on calling Dave personally.

All depends on where you want the base of the bullet to seat in the case neck. Seat them deep and as the throat wears you can move the OAL out to still touch the lands. Too long a throat and you have to use heavier bullets and start all over with your load work. A "dummy round" is the best way to go. That way the chamber is cut to the way "you" want it. ;)
