22br for f open

New here so forgive me if this has been asked.

Anyone shoot 500 yards and in with the 22br for f open? How do you fair with it? Have a 6br that is pretty accurate, but I'd like to build an f open rig for 500 and inward. Vast majority would be at 300 yards.(only club around me that does matches is at 300 yards .)

I Just like the idea of a 22br. Want to try and get the 88eldm or something similar. Seems cheaper to reload as well, given the 22cal bullets are substantially cheaper than the 6mm.

It has plenty of accuracy and better ballistics when you’re talking about the 90gn class of bullets. You might find my log interesting:

I'd like to shoot between 80-90 grain bullets. Specifically the 88 eldm. @Evan looks like you experimented an extensive amount with it! Had good luck with varget it appears?

It’s an easy going cartridge. Basically any powder I dumped in there would shoot sub 1” at 300 yards. IMR 4350 and Varget were favorites. IMR 4064, Shooters world Long Rifle, Reloder 15.5 are all good too.

I would skip the 88 ELDM and shoot the 90gn SMK instead. You can buy them in bulk at great prices from Rocky Mountain Reloading: https://www.rmrbullets.com/shop/bul...atch-king-hollow-point-boat-tail-bullets-new/

I'll be testing them here very soon.
I'm waiting on my atlas tac action and then I'll be getting a barrel from you @urbanrifleman , I'm leaning towards a 22br. But I will continue the research on the 22bra.

Question on your website. What's the ball park weight of a 24in light varmint, and what twist rate would you go with for the br and bra if I was slingin 80-90grs

It's somewhere right around 4 and 1/2 lb and I would go with a seven twist. That's what I'm shooting with the 88 eldm , 90 SMK and Berger.
