Tim, If you have enough shank, you may consider the 223 AI with zero freebore which would have a much longer barrel life than a 22 bR or variant, I can't stress this enough.
In the 223 AI, shoot the 50's at 3800-3850 with N133 into bug holes and 1-1.25" at 400 yards, 55's at 3700+ with N135. If you want much longer barrel life, then the H335 will give you many thousands of rounds of extremely accurate barrel life. It would not surprise me if you have already been down this road.
I did not get long barrel life out of two 22 BR with 14T shooting R#15(3800-3850,30.5g of R#25, 50g Ballistic tip or Speer tnt)...shocking especially since they started off with zero freebore. About 1500 rounds on p. dog towns and the barrels were toast with the lands tapered badly for about 10" in front of the throat. If I went this route again, I would opt for Win 748, H335, Tac, or Hunter.
Agg's, Shooting 3 shot groups in the high 1's and low 2's were normal with both of these cases, with occasional groups smaller with Both.
Recently, I went hole hog on a varmint rifle, older slightly used Hart Light varmint barrel, 22 caliber 14T. I went the 22-243 AI, and am now shooting the 60g Sierra HP at 4000 fps into bug holes. The barrel did not have enough shank to make a 223 AI, so I went large on the case to clean up the old chamber completely, now the barrel is still 24" long. I am figuring 1000 rounds of barrel life, but it will only be used on varmints.
I have not done the calculations on a 60g V max but hope it will stabilize in a 14T with this speed, maybe a pipe dream.
You mentioned varmints, I like to see helicopters, twisters, and acrobatics, it is worth the shorter barrel life vs just putting a hole in them.
