224 Texas Trophy Hunter loads with a 1-9" twist

H-4831 or RL-25 is the powder to try with the heavy weights, and H-4350 for the lighter weights...

I shoot an 8 twist and like the 80 SMK best. With the 8 twist I have got real good groups 1/2 moa with the 77 SMK`s using WC 867, and the SD was 7. I started with 47 1/2 gr. of WC 867 and worked up to 50 gr. WC 872 also worked real well. For commercial powders stay with a burn rate around AA 8700, you can work up or down for best results. Also, DO NOT try the 75 gr. Hornady match bullets, they won`t make the target at the velocities you`ll push them. Also DO NOT shoot with a hot barrel, it is very hard on the throat, but if it shoot good you can have the barrel set bak and rechambered when you shoot it out. There is a lot of data for this round here, www.accurateloading.com/226mm.html.

Interested in this too. Just bought an 8 twist barrel and reamer. Want to shoot 70 gr. barnes tsx.
Don't want to hear why I shouldn't hunt with a 22 cal.

Nate, what chrono are you using?
Have you proven your dope using that 3860 MV? IE, does that speed jive with your drops at distance?

Reason I ask, is my .22-243AI holds about the same h20 capacity as a .22-6mm (measured my formed Lapua cases @ ~55 grains, avg.)
My rifle has a 2" longer barrel (27") than yours, but you're seeing +300fps with the same 75Amax.

If two cases have the same powder capacity, just trying to wrap my head around where that insane speed is coming from. And doing it with 2" less barrel...

Any insight?

Couldn't tell honestly why. I used a buddy's and mine. I've only shot it from 1-500 yards due to the wind here and everybody getting ready for hints the range is always packed. I have a rcbs. I backed it to 49gr and get 3625 there about
This is where I'm at from a 100 yard zero to 505 yards

Here's my chart

Gotcha.

The ballistic snapshot is showing you need "19.5 clicks" for 500yd dope

But in your pic, there are only 18 "clicks" (4.5 MOA) dialed on your scope?
If you're running that dope from a true 100yd. zero, that correction would imply your muzzle velocity would have to be ~3950fps with a 75Amax ???

Just sayin', something ain't jiving right with the #s. At all...

No matter really, as long as you know what to dial for your own purposes.
Just had a hard time wrapping my head around the outrageous muzzle velocity claim, and wanted to help clarify the #s for everyone else reading along...

Thanks for the pics & info!

Ya. Idk. I know that's what two seperate Cronus have said wishing 50fps of each other. In that chart I have it 3860. Hers my strikes at 505
