.223 WSSM

I have a .223wssm that I was thinking about building. I was thinking about pushing some 69- 75 grain bullets with it. Now about what kind of velocities and accuracy would you expect from this cartridge with these heavier bullets. The gun that I will be starting with is a Winchester shadow. I was thinking of a 30" 1in. dia. heavy bull barrel prolly with a 1-9" twist?,what twist rate would you guys use?) also I dont know what barrel manufacturer would you use? A nice thumbhole stock that will be glass bedded. I was also going to send the action out and have it trued up and a trigger job. So what do you guys think of this? Good, bad, or what?

I have no first hand experience with the 223 WSSM but from what I have read, there issues concening accuracy, brass quality and barrel life.

Asscott4, I "had" a 223 WSSM in the Browning Varmint semi-heavy barrel. I was not happy with it at all. Accuracy was just simply not there and I tried several different loads and combinations. I realize there is a big difference in a factory vs custom rifle.
But, personally I would not go that route. After purchasing all three of the WSSMs and handloading for all of them, I just saw too many things that I did not like with brass mostly. Just my opinion. FWIW. Bill

Hrm well thank you all for your input :) Im glad I found out a little more information about it before i went ahead and built it.

I guide P-dog hunts and the .223WSSM is a nightmare with any heat
as pressures/velocity go all over, fouling and throat problems are
way too premature.........it's better to just go to a established
clean burning, long life caliber then attempt something like the
Winchester .223WSSM everything in the world is wrong with this
cartridge.........
