.223 Tikka magazine

Need a magazine that will accommodate a long bullet seating depth for my Tikka T3 Light. Wondering if a factory. 22-250 magazine may work? Any recommendations greatly appreciated.

Hi Paul,

The mags I’ve found that have best OAL for tikka are found in the link below. I’ve tried quite a few and can vouch for their quality. They are out of Australia and aren't cheap but their shipping was prompt and their communication was excellent, I’d suggest an email to them if you see something that might work or have a question.

Wow, they are very proud of those! May have to get with my brother and have him 3d print a few .223 followers and convert a .22-250 magazine to work. Maybe a new market to look into. Lol. Thanks bud.

Have you looked at or talked to the folks at Mountain Tactical dot com ?

I know their SA mags allow up to around a 3.0 COAL and I believe their mags work with factory Tikka bottom metal but the snag for you may be I'm not sure if they make them for 223 size cartridges. A quick phone call and you'd be the first to know though. 1 (406) 595-1970

I know of a couple of options. One is the Mountain Tactical which is metal and the other is a 3D printed mag by Ascension Industries. Email Adam at

He's a really nice guy and is trying hard to serve the Tikka shooters. I have some of his mags as well as some of the Mountain Tactical mags.

Good luck in your search.

There have been quite a few discussions and do yourself threads about opening up the factory mags for greater OAL on 24hourcampfire.com
It's been quite a while since I have seen one but I bet that a search would eventually find it. Or, maybe just post a thread thre titled something like - how do I open up a 223 magazine OAL

I think that a 22/250 magazine is unlikely to work due to the wider body of the 22/250 opening.

A quick search came up with this.

I contacted Mountain Tactical over a year ago about their new gen 223 mags. The guy told me they would be available in a few months, and………..then nothing. Fast-forward to now, I stumbled across a video that MT put out a couple months ago about something or other and left kind of a sarcastic comment asking where their 223 mags were. Surprisingly they responded within 15 minutes and said they were within a couple weeks up coming out. And, still nothing. By all accounts, MT is a reputable company. I’ve never had any dealings with them other than a phone call. But I’ve basically given up on them and their mags.

Drover,
Was considering the. 22-250 magazine for the added length, and then machining my own follower. Or mortifying my .223 follower for a little extra length. Appreciate your help.

The owner posted a new video this week, saying their customer service guy has been let go. He found hundreds of unfilled orders back to 2022, and email chains where the customers were lied to. They are not taking any more orders until July, so they can clean up the back orders that are out there.
6 months ago he posted about the shop being used by the employees to make fishing gear to sell without his knowledge. Close to putting him out of business.
Makes nice stuff, but clearly is not any kind of business manager.

WOW good to know!!

The mag offered on 24hr campfire allows 2.55" , and works with factory bolt stop. It seems to work well according to those who have purchased it. I think there has been one revision done which has improved feeding. Guy says it's not something to leave on the dash on a 110 degree day as the material distorts at 130 degrees. Gotta use the guts from a factory mag, but $40 shipped and a lifetime no matter what warranty seems like a no brainer.

I have one of the waters mags for a 223 Tikka.

They are hands down the best mag out there for it. The mountain tactical mags are nice but bulky and not as well made.

Lots of money and a long wait for me but worth every penny.
