223 Seating Depth

I'm finally getting around to shooting my Savage #16 in 223. I'm looking for some advice on seating depth with 50gr V-Max bullets. This is my first 223 so I have no experience with where I should start. .010, .005, touch the lands

As a general practice, I like to start at .020 off the lands for hunting reloads and bolt rifles and move back from there. I've never found it necessary to seat bullets any closer in order to meet my accuracy goals which for me is .5" moa max for varmint rifles.

+1 on 0.020" check a +/- 0.010, but you should be in a good window for jump at 20 thou.
