.223 rem load work up

Hi guys, I plan on working up a load for a Remington 233 light varmint 22in barrel. I plan on using 40g blitz king billets any power recommendation of powder waight primer combo. i have never loaded for a 223 i was told that can be kind a tempermental

thanks

Use one of the loading books and go to town. I zapped lot of PD's with a combination of 40 gr SX bullets and MR223 powder in my 223's, but H322 is a good choice also.

I think the .223 is the easiest cartridge to load for. I have 3 of them and all of them thrive on just about any powder I've used, including H335, N133, Varget, IMR3031, H322 and H4895. I would start with a suitable powder you already have and see how it does.

I find my rifles to be more picky about bullet brand than anything. Neither of the 3 favor Hornady bullets...two prefer Noslers and one likes Sierra better. But they all shoot okay with any of the three.

Download the Sierra data off the .223 6mmBR page if you haven't already done so. The powders listed by Sierra are all good ones to try.
