I am having a 223 made and it will be throated for the 80 grain bergers, barrel in 1:8 twist). This is a single shot bolt action rifle, no mag.
On some of the reload data I have, it list the OAL at 2.550 for Sierras mk.
When I seated the bullet in a new Lapua brass to send as a spec to the Gunsmith, I seated it where the junction of the neck and shoulder meet to be the same as the point where the boatail ends from the base of the bullet so only the boatail extends into the case beyond the neck shoulder junction. Doing this I get 2.510 OAL.
Looking at the 223 info page it looks like the Bergers are longer than the Sierras, but the Sierras have a shorter boatail section.
Just curious if anyone has run into this?
Thanks
