.223 or .22-250

My wants
So accuracy #1, cheap to load, long barrel life. I have 2-3 other FAST varmint guns, this one would be for shooting a box of cheap $20 projectiles and also, but more important some 80-90 grain high BC.

Would it be cheaper to buy a extra bolt (.223) on my switch barrel gun than to try to get/ make BR brass?

A .223 will do it for you, however in order to shoot the 90 will a 6.5" twist which will preclude you from shooting the cheap stuff with light bullets.

The .22 br is an undeniably great cartridge with a full range of bullet weights, but I will say that the .223 is also a surprisingly great performer out to 1000 yds. I have had great luck with it over the years at Camp Perry in 1000 yard matches, but for a bolt gun, it's really hard to argue with the proven performance and increased case capacity that the .22 br provides.

how well does the br feed from a repeater?how heavy of a bullet can i shoot and how fast can i shoot that bullet? i understand that you folks have more knowledge about these things than i do but remember all i have is the 223 and 250 so getting another would probly cuase a devorce. along with getting a new gun is a new scope and i am all ready in need of a bigger safe, oh not to mention the dies, brass and powder, primers, bullets and time it would take me to get this thing to shoot the way i wanted or expected becuase you folks have biult it up to the point that it cannot be acheived by me i should probly just stick with the 223&250.

I stayed with 223 due to barrel life. I dont mind sacrificing speed for wear. I've destroyed ground hogs at 400 yds and those shots dont come around that often.

+ i dont have to try and form new brass like the 22br, i know how this 1 feeds, and what it is capable of. really what i am capable of.but since i have both the 223 and 22-250 i have been testing some 60grn loads both show some promise, like i said before 200 maybe 250yds at most for deer anything smaller and further i suppose i will just have to shoot it also.
