223 OL length on bolt action?

I know this is a long shot, but I have to wait 9 days until my OAL gage arrives.

I was hoping someone might have some OAL for the following rifles in 223

Tikka T3 Varmint 1/8
CZ 527 MI Ultralight 1/12

I have bullets from 50 to 80 grs at my disposal. I was hoping to work up a few loads to at least get my scope sighted in close and get an idea on what the rifle likes for the couple of days above freezing we are expecting.

Hi, I'm new on the forum but,,
Every rifle is going to be a bit different. Even the same make and model.
You don't need the OAL gauge to load. If you want to get your scope close just load to sammi COAL for that bullet, all ya need is a caliper.
(usually listed with the bullet type in the manual)
I know what the cold is about, we just came out of 2 wks of sub zero!


p.s. do a search or ask someone how to make a "dummy round", then back-up 10-15 thousands to be safe till ya get yer gauge

You could make an OAL guage by cutting a couple of slits in the neck of a sized 223 case, insert a bullet and chamber. This pushes the bullet to the max length to the lands for a particular bullet in YOUR barrel. Carefully remove and measure. I had to resort to this loading a 280 Ackley (no altered case available for a Sinclair AOL guage (now Hornady).
