.223 loads with 8 twist

I have a Sako xs in .223 with 8 twist. Just wondering what bullet range I can run in it? Will it like 52 through 60 or 80 grain? Like to shoot out to 5 or 600 yards if possible

I run 52 and 55 Bergers and then 77 and 80 SMK’s. All shoot in .5 or less groups.

I might also point out that from my testing, 8208 works better for light bullets while VarGet is the best for the heavier bullets

Unlike several others, I was not able to get my Tikka 8" twist 223 to shoot much under 1 inch with 55 grain bullets; most loads grouped slightly over an inch which isn't terrible but does not meet my standards for a varmint / predator load.

So I next tried both Nosler 60 grain BT's and Hornady 60 grain Vmax's. I was surprised by the results of my load development with these bullets since I'm not a big fan of Hornady rifle bullets. The 60 Vmax's with H4895 out shot the Nosler BT's; best group was .445" at 100 yards. I was also surprised that a modest powder charge with this powder produced the best groups.

I didn't try any other bullets since I was very satisfied with the 60 Vmax results which met my standards for a varmint / predator load (i.e. 1/2 to 5/8"). Also, I wanted the lightest bullet possible that would group to my standards.

Next test will be in the field against predators and varmints but this bullet should hit them hard.

25 gr.Benchmark and 55 gr ballistic tips, cci 400.
Shoots .3" in my 1n8, and wifes 1n9
gas guns.

My RRA NM is 1 in 8 twist, I shoot the Hornaday 68 (the ones with cannelure) they are very similar to 69 SMK I used IMR 8208XBR and shoot well enough for my to pick up the x ring
