.223 Lapua brass

I have not been able to find any Lapua brass in .223 Rem. So I am looking for options. Lapua ammo is available at around a $1. per round. Would this be the same quality as the brass that they sell for reloading?

To do otherwise would not be cost effective and would probably affect their business reputation.

If you can find any I buy Norma 5.56 ammo . It's usually a good price. I bought 1000rnds Just shoot it to fire form it .

Also check out Starline 5.56 brass if you can't find any. Recently bought some and it's really nice and pretty uniformed. Also $30/100 isn't bad.

Starline makes 223 and 556 brass (556 is a harder material) - It is EXCELLENT quality. H20 capacities are more consistent than lapua.

Be advised, starline has less case capacity, so work up your loads safely.

I’m on the 8th firing of relatively sane FTR load and haven’t lost a case yet using the Starline 5.56. I would have started tossing Lapua around the 4th/5th firing.

My velocities are almost identical to Lapua grain for grain with Varget so capacity may be pretty close.

I've been pleased with Hornady 223 Rem brass. No defects in the last three lots I purchased. Getting 12 reloads to date and no sign of problems.

PS: All shot out of bolt rifles.

Hornady does work good too but can’t find it. They aren’t selling it now as it’s all going to loaded ammo per Hornady. I had some on backorder from Jan 2021 and canceled it and bought the Starline.

I'm still shooting Lapua gold box brass. So far, I've got 13 reloads on this brass and none of it has been annealed. All of it still shoots great. Not sure if I'll ever get to use the brass I've got in reserve.

The LAPUA 223 REM brass is the same for their ammo as what you buy unloaded in the blue box.
