No, it will make it worse.

bobcat93,

I have a 223AI 8tw Criterion Match barrel on a Savage action. I use Lapua brass, 80 gr Berger's , Varget, with CCI Br4. standard neck. I don't turn necks any more. I get chambers cut 0.002" over loaded round, tight neck with out turning.

I have a 223 AI 9 twist ER Shaw Barrel that is chamber for a no turn neck. I'm shooting Hornady brass with 26.5 grain of Varget under a 69 SMK. In this brass and my gun I can shoot 27.1 gr safely but it is the max. My accuracy is at 26.5 and I'm getting 3160 avg FPS with an ES of 11.1 and an SD of 4.8 This combo shot a 10 shot 1/2" group on several different outings.

Fireform loads somewhere in the 23.2-24.0gr range with a 77gr and 8208XBR. Full-house AI loads will probably end up in the in the 24.8-25.8gr range.

The gunsmith working on my rifle said to turn necks before fire forming, when the 223 rem. Is reformed into 223improved the original neck/shoulder location will now be more on the shoulder " so no dounut to worries about" sounds logical to me!! Am I missing something here? If so what is the best way to turn my necks before I fire form?
Thanks
