223 Contender barrel

I picked up a 223 14" barrel at the gun show today. I tried H335 and was getting hugh muzzle blast, must need some faster powder. What do you use?

The ball powder may not be helping your cause. Try a stick in and around the burn rate of 335. I switch to VV N-133 in my 18 1/2" Mini 14 to pickup velocity/accuracy. What bullet weight? The heaviest you can stabilize should help also.

My friend just bought one.
Varget gave a much smaller muzzle flash.
I think Benchmark or the aforementioned N133 might be a good choice.

Go with Varget--depending on the bullet size you will most likely have a compressed load.

I have a Super 14 in 223 and a xp100 in 223--- imr 4198 is excellent in both, will shoot bug holes if I do my part.

Thanks guys. I was at the range yesterday. Looks likes H322 with 50 gr Blitzkings.
