223 AI and 40gr bullets?

Anyone run 40gr bullets, out to about 300yds, in your 223 AI and what powders/charge weight( PM me the weight if you want) do you use. Thinking of trying H335. Have some H322 and AA2015 also. Have a few boxes of Nosler 40 BT I want to try out.

Of those powders, I've only used 2015. If you have or can get vv133, it should also be very good with 40's, it is in std.223. Also try some 50's in the AI if you have them.

The 40gr. load is nicely accurate. Next time out I tried 29.0gr and it shot the same, no pressure signs and high 4100's.

That also likes 50's. With VV133 it's right there in 22-250 territory.

300yds is not a problem.

I’ve loaded and shot a bazillion or so 40 gr Nosler BTs over H335. Bolt gun and AR. Very accurate. Unfortunately I can’t remember the powder charge, and the data is in my barn workshop.

And brother, will a hot loaded 40 gr BT put down a coyote hard. Looks to me that the bullet dumps the whole energy load in the coyote. Thinking about trying that bullet in the 220 Swift and make it rain coyote chunks.

Tried them in my 22-204 ai (aka 223 aix) and running at 3933fps with TAC

I shoot them(40gr NBT) out of my 22-204 1-9 and it has been my goto bullet for coyote pelt hunting for 16yrs. It was the first bullet I tried in that rifle just to get a feel for loading it, it shot so well I buy them bulk now.

So true, the "pressure police / pressure ex-purts" are out there. Eager to point out when you're doing something "dangerous" that's gonna kill you and people around you.

I had great luck with A2200 and 40 grain Berger bullets. This is a 3 shoot group at 100 yards.
