Goodday

I have a 223 A.I. 14 Twist 21 inch tube ordered for my Contender.
This will be mostly a paper puncher.
Input on reloading would greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance

Have you looked at the .223/.223AI page here at 6mmBR????

Another is...http://www.geocities.com/graymist44/ackley223.html

Good luck.

Great cartridge. A forum member recommended H4895 to me a while back and after trying several powders I agree. You may want to try something a little quicker with that short of a barrel. Have not worked up any loads for bullets lighter than 69gr so I have no advice for your 1-14. Fire forming is straight forward with bullets, although some guys use the cream of wheat method with good results. The brass usually goes south before you have to have to trim. Good luck.

Lots of info on shooting and reloading for TCs here: http://www.bellmtcs.com

There are a few tricks involved with getting a TC to shoot well, so I have discovered...

Yes lots of info. But it doesn't tell what twist they test in. I would think they use different twist tubes from 40 to 80 gr bullets. I was told a 52 gr match with a 14 T. I have Berger's, SMK's and Nosler HTBTs to try now. Over 27gr of H4895 for fire forming.

A quicker powder in a 21 inch barrel. What should I try?

thanks Link

Link,

I have used H335 in all my 223 & 223AI. CCI 450 primer work best for me also. I just losd a upper load for a 223 25 to 26 gr H335. The last time I went for PD. I mostly fireformed while I killed PD, 500 cases.

I have been shooting a 223 AI for a bunch of years. I am using VV133 and a CCI BR4 primer with a 50g Vmax. Best accuracy and velocity I could find in my gun.

I have a 15' MGM Contender 223AI barrel 1-12 twist. I have been using Hodgdon Benchmark with great success. with 50gr.-60gr. bullets and Lapua brass.
