223 75gr amax 5 shot group

This was a 5 shot group @ 100 the other day. 223 75gr amax, 26.0 varget, lapua jumped .022. I backed it up with 2 similar ( not quite as tight) groups but I think the barrel started heating up and they opened up just a little. This is def my groundhog load this year!

do u have any info on this centershot bipod ur talking about...ive checked their website and it sucks....doesnt explain anything on how it works or how it attaches...they did a poor job on advertisment

I think theres actually some info on this site? I forget! But its all carbon fiber and aluminum and attaches to a " t " slot accessory rail like on the choate tact stocks. The feet allow a natural motion of the gun, imho. My guns are very heavy but it still adjust elevation very smoothly. Its delicate, but very tough and rigid. Im very very pleased with it.

Bu-bu-but its a Salvage.... ;)

What OAL are you loading to to fit 26.0gr Varget in a Lapua case with a 75gr A-Max? Also what primers?

Thanks everybody! I really want to get into competition shooting someday. Also my OAL is 2.552, I always measure from a reference point or the ogive though. If you check out Mcgowens website they used one of my targets as there background, it wasnt even that good of one but it was a 5 shot as well at 200 yd tho ( zero wind).

Looking good vmaxpro! I finally nailed my load today with my .223AI and 75 A-Max. All along it was the Fed 205M primers holding me back. I switched to CCI BR-4's and it really woke up. I am seating them .020 off the lands also after initial load development @.010 off the lands.

Nice!!! It really is a good bullet! What powder did you settle on? Varget in mine shoots great from 24.5 all the way to 26.8.

I tried TAC, H4895, IMR4895, and N140 all @.010 with Hornady 75 A-Max's that I sorted on a bearing surface comparator. Shot the 4 powders mentioned OCW test and none stood out. Then tried 8208 XBR in another OCW test and it really shined at 24.5 grains with Fed. primers, then after some more fiddling and not being able to repeat the one good group, I switched to CCI BR-4's and it really woke up big time. At .020 off the lands my group this morning was pretty close to your group pictured. Weird how a primer change will shrink groups and make them much more consistent. I was always locked into Fed 205M primers in .223 class rounds after my years prairie dog hunting but they are nowheres as consistent in this rifle as the BR'4s. :)

Thanks! Hey 40x, I had 8208 shoot excellent too, but couldnt quite get the velocity on par w the accuracy. I absolutely love that powder though! Its smokin with the 53gr vmax's out of a 28" barrel. 3680avg on them and the primers are still rounded and brass checks out nicely. This was checked ballistically and through 3 chronos. Accuracy was fantastic as well, not one hole, but nice cloverleafs.

Vmaxpro, the velocity in the AI case with 24.5 grains 8208 is exactly 2957 fps. Mild but deadly accurate. My son (built the rifle for him- 12 YO) shot it today at the local GH match and his groups at 2,3,and 400 meters rivaled the custom gun shooters. Wind and mirage got him at 500. :) Pic is of his 400 meter target, a tad high but we have the load down.
