.223 68 hornady bthp

gun is a savage stevens action,26 inch shilen select stainless match barrel
seated bullets 10 thousandths off lands
lc 10 brass
cci 450 primer
varget powder
68 bthp hornady
what would you guys do?
go up to 25.2,25.4?
try cci 400 primer?
seat bullets out to 15 or 20 thousandths?
after the 24.6 i was moving scope to get on target, after 24.8 too
i do have some h4895 powder also i can try
once i do some fine tuning and find the right combo, ill shoot some 5 shot groups

H4895 is my "go to" powder for many 223 bullets - 68 & 69 gr being some of the best. Congrats...and post more!

Looks to me like your on the right track.....Not bad at all.

Load work up is the best part of getting a new rifle in my opinion. Enjoy.

savagenut, what is the twist of your barrel? my 1-8 Benchmark is throated for the 75gr. Amax, it is loaded with H4895 and extremely accurate out to 600 yards.

If no pressure signs you may want to try increasing the charge of varget. My pet load in a 8T Tikka SV is 25.3gr varget, WW brass, and Rem 7.5 primer.

ok i changed a couple of things,i went from cci 450,to cci 400
then i went out further off the lands
cz 527 i would like your opinion on these
plus i tried h4895 also,i shot those groups first, then i moved the scope down 1 inch when i shot the varget loads
on the 25.0 vraget load i think i pulled that one shot

can somebody explain on how to read groups for target shooting,or how can you really tell what load is the best?

I think you have a couple of loads that show promise. I suggest neck turning just a light clean up on the cases - this a has helped me a lot. Turned a good load in a Shilen 308 to excellent (very consistent). Even helped a stock Winchester 30-06 hunting rifle.

Size, trim, and neck turn cases. Next weigh them to cull any high/low cases. This is the next step as it appears you have some decent powder info now.

did better this morning,no wind,between 50-56 degrees
tried cci 400,cci br4
5 shot groups,i pulled about 2 of them
number 4 and 5 on 25.6 with cci 400 primer
