It’s a CZ 527 (mini-Mausier action). Unfortunately, CZ decided to discontinue the Model 527 and Model 550 (Mausier 98), and consolidate both into with new Model 600.

I own a couple of CZ 527’s and wouldn’t trade them. The rifles come with a single set trigger (8oz) and a bullet-proof metal magazine. The factory chambering for the Model 527 are 221 Fireball, 222, 223, .204, 6.5 Grendel, 7.62x39, and 300 BO.

It’s a CZ 527 (mini-Mausier action). Unfortunately, CZ decided to discontinue this Model 527 and Model 550 (Mausier 98), and consolidate both into with new Model 600.

TheCZ 600 is more comparable to a Bergara… probably with Bergara edging it out. The only CZ 600 that captures my attention is their minimalist model called the “Trail”. It would make nice platform for 300BO or 8.6BO… poorman’s Q Fix

Back in the day (pre-COVID) a CZ 527 sold for $650 (American) - $850 (Kevlar Varmint). A used rifle now goes for $900 - $1,600 depending on the cartridge ( 221 Fireball and 6.5 Grendel highly coveted by varmint hunters.

Tikka 222 Model 595 deluxe picked up this past summer, neat little rifle. It’s a bit heavier than you would think but shoots itty bitty groups. I use the same load in this rifle as I do in my Tikka 222 Master Sporter, also a 595.

When CZ announced the end of the 527 I found a couple more to add to the 222 I already had. From top to bottom 222, 223 and 22 hornet. The 222 is an older version. I always felt the CZ 527 didn’t get the love it deserved, they certainly have a following but remain under appreciated by many. The 222 started it for me with the 527.

Pretty amazing the amount of chambering and configurations CZ offered in their 527 rifles. I wish they were still being made.

The Howa Mini is an adequate replacement for the CZ 527. It’s a little larger/beefier action. With the void left by the CZ 527, attention has shifted to the Howa Mini. After years of limited aftermarket components, the Howa Mini is finally getting the attention/support of 3rd party vendors.

Oso, I can only imagine that it was the same thing it always is, greed. They had one of the top two mini actions, but couldn’t it for bigger rounds. So they beefed up the action and called it better because now they can chamber the barrel for the latest and greatest. This bit the hand that fed them with the majority of people wanting the smaller action. Just my $0.02.

Agreed! It’s a great action, accuracy was typically really good and I really like all the offerings they had has far as calibers, barrel lengths and stock options. I sold a 204 Ruger CZ American I regret, handled great and was a shooter. I’d like to replace it someday ……

I’d really like to find one of their MTR 527s in a centerfire, pricing dictates that probably won’t happen though.

At one point I had one of the elusive CZ 527 Royal, which was kitted with the original version of the MTR stock and it had a beautiful tapered barrel with external finish of hammer forged helix profile. It was very sexy, but didn’t work for my purpose. I have kept a couple of CZ 527 Kevlar Varmints.

That’s one of those rifles, the Royal, you either love or hate. I’ve always wanted one, don’t see them come up very often though.

It was a bit of a Duck. It had a benchrest target stock with a light tapered barrel that was only good for 3 shots before it got to hot and whippy resulting in groups opening up. The hexagonal helix of flat hammer strikes pounding the exterior of the barrel is the coolest barrel profile I’ve ever seen. The cost to get someone to replicate manually or write a CNC program is why this profile will always be a unicorn to me.
