222s, show yours

View attachment 1247586View attachment 1247587These are my two favorite rifles.
First is a Rem 700 built by Ken Kleinendorst it’s obvious but the rifle is far better than I am. The second is my Anschutz 1740D McMillan stock Leupold HD5 scope. Sitting on top of a 250lbs bore hog that never took a step. Can’t go wrong with a deuce in my opinion.
Best use of an election sign ever....just sayin

What a cool thread. I haven’t posted in a long time but couldn’t resist keeping this thread moving. These are all a bit obscure. Savage Series J, Sako 75 Varmint, and a Tikka Master Sporter factory 222. Had a 700 classic and ADL too and never should have sold them. Every 222 I’ve ever loaded for shoots the same load of H4198 and a 40 V Max extremely well, with minor COL adjustments only between rifles.
How does the tikka master sporter shoot? is it as accurate as the savage? how would you rate the rifles in accuracy? Hope I'm not being too nosy.

I have only shot one bullet/powder combo through any of the 222’s I’ve owned over the years. The same charge of H4198 with a 40 V Max has shot quite well in everything I’ve tried it in with adjustments only in seating depth per rifle. I’ve seen a lot of impressive groups posted on this forum so I won’t embarrass myself but all three of these rifles are capable of .4-.5” 5-shot groups routinely. I do suspect that further load refinement for each rifle may possibly tighten these groups up a small amount, but who knows. So to answer your question, I think it’s fair to say that on any given day, one of the three would outshoot the others....they are all that close. Then again, every 222 I’ve owned shot has shot this well or close to it and I suspect most would agree.
Each are so different from the others. Stock fit and shooting comfort go to the Savage. Action smoothness definitely to the Tikka. Fit and finish to the Sako 75.
Hope this helps.

Had this guns couple months, replaced the stock today the previous owner had murdered a nice factory stock, haven't shot it much it I'm not impressed so far.

It’s getting better, target shot today with rifle in post #114, compare to target in post #113. It doesn’t like the Bergers in the lands, 0.005” off touch did better. Also, it did better with a little hotter powder charge. 22.2g N133 is the best so far.
I might get to 22.5, any more will be a compressed load.
The best thing is the trigger, it’s a Remington 2 oz. I’ve had Jewels, Timneys and TriggerTechs - none come close for the consistent feel of the Remington.

II was gifted this rifle in December 2019 as a thank you for delivering a much-needed electric wheelchair to a family in Galveston. I do not plan on ever parting with it. He had gotten it from another fellow who didn't take the best of care for it so cleaning it up was a lot of work.
Remington 700 BDL, born in 1961, I added the vintage Weaver K-10. I shot it enough last summer to get the barrel dirty and no more. Hoping that changes some this summer.

This is a quicky cell phone pic to share with my daughter.
