222 lapua brass

Is all blue box 222 lapua brass head stamped "match"? Saw some recently in sealed box but doesn't say Match on the box like other boxes I've seen. Just curious anyone know?

I would be wary of any that didn't say "Match". They had some years ago that didn't say "Match" and it turned out to be contract brass and was not nearly as tough as the blue box that says "Match". Best source for info would be the importer.

I've got some Lapua 222 cases from a seller on AS, came in the gold boxes. None say Match on them.

From what I have read here in searching the subject the gold box stuff is all non match marked and presumably not lapua production. Curious about blue box being all match headstamp.

Back in early 2006 I bought some of that "outsourced" Lapua .222 brass from Sinclair- (price was $39.20). It came in the gold box . Both the box and the headstamp lacked the "Match" designation. It was no better than the RP and WW of the time period. I later bought another box of Lapua .222 from Champion Shooters in 2007 after reading about earlier outsourced production and this lot came in a gold box marked .222 Match as well as the H/S designation. This newer stuff was on par with the Lapua .220 Russian I had been familiar with using it in the 6 PPC. Last box bought early last year came in the blue box. Headstamped with "match" but box label lacked the match designation. Have not had a chance use it yet.

It wasn't that long ago all Lapua brass came in the gold paper boxes. I still have around 10 unopened gold paper boxes of Lapua 223 and a couple of 6.5-284 and 338 Lapua in unopened gold paper boxes.

Never knew Lapua outsourced any of their production. So, if it doesn't have "MATCH" stamped on it, and came in the gold box, it's not actually made by Lapua? And not any better than other brands, like RP or Win? That's disappointing to hear. I guess I overpaid for brass, could have purchased Starline and done better.

You're probably fine. The only brass I know of that Lapua outsourced was years ago they had someone make 300 Win mag brass for them but it said lapua on it.

My point about it all coming in the gold paper boxes was that's just how it was all packaged at one time, not that anything in a paper box was outsourced.

Kevin Thomas does or did work for Lapua and he's posted on this forum before. Not sure if he's still around the forum or not but he could likely put a period on all this for us.
