222 dies

What sizing dies do you find work well for a 222 rem.

If brass already chambers in your rifle just an LCD works great.

What size is the neck? If you have to neck turn (to .242" for example) then a bushing die would be most people's choice. If it is a no turn neck then just about any good quality full length die would work..

I use Redding on my 40XBR in 222. I just use the standard Redding FL die with a Redding Comp bullet seating die. But I do hone my die necks to the diameter that works best for me.

Here was a target that surprised me. Shot at 100m, expected Lapua to outperform.

Lee collet die. I use an ancient set of Pacific match dies but tossed the seating die and use a Hornday seater.

I use a Redding body die, unknown neck only bushing die, and a Wilson seating die.

Redding collet dies and a Vickerman seating die. Shot five groups yesterday, IMR 4198 20.1gr to 20.9gr w/40 V-Max all bout 3/4". Not too bad for the second time out, no alibi if the gopher escapes.

My old bone-stock 222, with RCBS standard die set always shot so well that I simply didn't realize how complicated reloading is sposed to be. jd

I use a Forster FL Benchrest die or a Lee Collet die.The Forster die has a high expander button that is supposed to eliminate some of the runout from the expander.For neck sizing,the Lee die works great and is dirt cheap.The 222 is very forgiving to load,most anything will work.I don't turn necks,so some sort of expander should be used to keep neck tension consistent.I seat with a Wilson.

I have a set of a Redding dies, FL sizer, I set the neck tension with a mandrel. The seating is a competition seating die. I have a few other 222 dies I’ve ended up with over the years, they all work fine so long as it’s a factory chamber. As far as custom chambers go that depends on the chamber obviously.
