.221 Fireball Twist

Is there a more-or-less agreed-upon optimal twist rate for the FB? I'm guessing that, since most FB shooters aren't interested in using the heavier bullets, 1-12" or 1-14" (or maybe even 1-15") would be most commonly-seen. What do you all think?

I HAVE A REM 700 CLASSIC 221 FB I THINK A 14 TWIST WHAT IT IS, BUT EITHER WOULD DO FINE, H-4227 40GR BERGERS 205M PRIMERS =BUGHOLES LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mine is a 1-12 twist Kreiger.

It likes the 40gr. bullets but loves the 50-55gr. bullets.

I once had a 12 inch bullberry barrel for a contender in 221 that had a 14 twist . I shot good groups with bullets up to 53 grains. That was the heaviest bullet I shot in that gun. I remember shooting a few 1/2 inch 5 shot groups with that gun at 100 yards using RL7 . Bruce

Mine is a Cooper (early model) with a 1-14 twist. I've only shot 40gr with AA2200 and its hammer.

HTH,

case is really too small for the bullet heavier than 50-52, thus 14 twist, the 40gr pills are dynamite, lil gun, 1680 4198's are the burn rate to go with.
