221 Fireball rifle help!

I just acquired a Remington 700 Classic in 221 Fireball. After searching I was only able to find IMR 4227, Nosler 40gr ballistic tips and CCI 450 primers. If any of you Fireball loaders will steer me in the right direction with load data, it will be greatly appreciated. I have some Remington ammunition which will be my initial brass supply when fired. Thanks in advance.

I shot a T/C 10" for several years using the H4227 and Hornady's 50SX killed a bunch of GroundHogs with it and NEVER had a exit wound.. I have tried the 4227 in my Remington rifle and it does good BUT Lil' Gun seems to be most peoples "Go To" powder.

Good Luck,
Jim

i have had a number of 700 and 40x custom 221 and the best loads are in the use of 4198, with 50 gr and with 40 gr lil gun.

they shoot great and are pd nightmare.

I stumbled across a good load for my custom .221. 13.4 grs. H322 under a 50 gr. BlitzKing. BR4 primers. Never chrono's it, but shoots tiny groups in mine at 100.

Remington brass, CCI BR primers, 19.5 grains of AA2230 and 40 grain Noslers will get me a 5 shot group at 100 yards that can be covered with a dime. How fast? Who cares, as long as they're all going in the same hole. 8)

And Lil Gun is OK if you can get used to loading flaked powder. ;)
That's kinda like cutting kernels with Varget. Accurate as can be but it stinks.

Some others to consider are VV N-130 & AA2200. Most all of the powders mentioned have shown promise in my rifles at one time or another, but I settled on the AA1680 because of the combo of performance woth excellent accuracy. Your rifle may like something entirely different. Have fun!

Thanks to all for the replies. This little cartridge got my interest years ago when it first appeared. I know it will be an interesting project. Again, Thanks for the replies!

20 grains of Vhit. N130 shoots very well in my ten year old Remington LVSF, but if I want a bit extra speed I go with 19-1/2 grains of Vhit. N120.

16.6grs H-4227 W/40GR HP BERGER 205FED PRIMER BUG HOLES GROUPS MY RIFLE IS A 700 CLASSIC ALSO.

My CZ 527 with a 14 twist Lilja really likes RL-7 and BR4 or Fed 210m primers.
19gr. of RL-7 with 40gr. V-Max does real well in it.

I have a 221 fb in the classic and I shoot 35 gr hornady vmax with 13 gr of 4227 works great I have tipped over quite a few p-dogs with it

I tried all the powders available for my Fireball. Lil Gun and 2015 were very good, until I tried N-133. It's the cats azz , one holers. 18.6 gns with a 40 gn V-Max.

Most of those powders work very well in the fireball. You can't go wrong with 4198, R7, 4227, lil gun, H322, and the new powder CFE,Black.
