221 Fireball collet die?

I am posting this in both the small stuff and the reloading forum. Lately I have tried to obtain a Lee collet die for a 221 Fireball. They do not make one so I decided to have one custom made as I had done with my 6mmBR. In a phone call to Lee I was informed that a collet die could not be made because the case is too short. They do have a collet die available for the 22 Hornet and the cases, for all intents and purposes, are the same length. In fact, the Fireball is just a touch longer. My question to all of you is, do you think that a 22 Hornet collet die will work or has anyone tried a 22 Hornet collet die on a 221 Fireball? Thanks for any help you can give.

I dont think the hornet will work in a 221 but I do know for a fact that Lee makes a collet die for the 221 FB I have one in my hand. I bought it a while back and paid $68.00 for it it works well I think before I did that I'd get a Redding S bushing competition set. call them again and try to get someone other than the receptionist.

I cound not get a collet die from Lee for a .221FB either. Maybe they used to make them, but will not anymore. They told me they are "troublesome at best" and will lock-up. Anyway Lee will not make one for you......However, I do use a Lee collet die to neck size my .221FB. I use the Lee 22 PPC collet die. It works great on the .221FB. It neck sizes about 2/3 of the neck, which is fine, even better.
