220swift-IMR4064

Will be starting to work up a load for my 220swift with 90grVLD and want to use IMR4064
Anyone have load data for a starting point using imr4064
I am sure not many have shot the 90gr VLD due to many reasons but want to give it a try(fun project)
If you have anything close to offer a starting point that would be great.

I am sure that IMR 4064 would work, however, I do not believe it would be the best powder for a heavy bullet like the 90... I used to shoot a 22-250 with 75gr Bergers for prairie dogs. I used IMR 4007 which is (was.. it has since been discontinued) very close in burn rate to H4350. I believe if I were you, I would be using either RL-16 or H4350. I believe you would like the results far better.. IMR 4064 is GREAT with the 50-60 grain pills. Also, I hope you have a 7 twist barrel for that Swift! You will need it..

If you just have to use 4064 start at 30.00. But as stated there are better choices !!!!

Howdy !

Out of curiosity.... what twist and barrel length does your Swift feature ?

Yes I do have a 7twist barrel
I just have a bunch of IMR4064 but also have some H4350

Big Mc
that is the number I was looking for a good starting point
Thanks to both

357Mag,
It is a 28" PacNor Heavy Palma 3 groove in 7 twist
I think the trick is going to be to keep the velocity and RPMs of the bullet in a comfort zone so the bullet is happy and does not see jacket seperation.
90gr berger needs 270,000 rpm to stabilize or so I am told.

I have just started playing with a 22 dasher and 90’s...while a smaller case I agree with above. 4064 is too fast, you need to start with the 4350.

Good luck, my initial findings are looking pretty impressive.

Well I have decided to use IMR 4350 or H4350 after further research.
IMR4350 has a case fill ratio 95% and H4350 is 97% ratio
I will wait and see the the room under the base of the bullet per my seating length to make my final decision on which to start with.
The OCW target test will have the final say on which one it will be.
Thanks for the info guys
