220 beggs

I imagine I won't get too many answers, because I don't think it's been done or isn't worth doing, but I have a PPC bolt face repeater action that used to be a 6.5 Grendel, just sitting around doing nothing for a while now and probably will be until I figure something concrete out for it. I was wondering if anyone has ever mag fed a .220 Russian or 220 beggs or 22 PPC?

I tried looking into in and it looked like it just wouldn't feed reliability other than in the factory Sako's from my research.

Interested in what anyone has to share in the subject. Anyone mag feed any of those cartridges?

As you probably already know the 220 Beggs is just a .220 Russian with a smaller radius at the neck shoulder junction to reduce case growth. Given the shoulder and case body tapers, and that the parent case was the 7.62x39 I see no reason that it should not feed out of a properly configured magazine. I would think that with a block of the correct size, and corresponding follower and spring things should work out fine. For Remington style ejectors used with short cartridges like the BRs, modifying the plunger to protrude a little farther from the bolt face, but not beyond the bolt nose seems to help keep the case on the bolt face long enough for it to be properly ejected.

A few years back I had a Ruger VT in 22PPC for a while. It cycled perfectly well. I used both factory Norma 22ppc brass, and Lapua 220 Russian fireformed to 22PPC in it. And it was easily the most accurate factory rifle I ever shot. With the bolt face you have, there are several more options in both brass manufacturer and caliber than we had at the time I owned that Ruger. JME WD

Around 30 yrs ago I bought a CZ mini mauser barreled action in 7.62x39. On the advice of my guru, John Bunch, I had it rebarreled into a 270x39AI. It was a very accurate kids deer rifle. Fast forward to the early 2000 years and after visiting with Gene Beggs I barreled it in 220 Beggs. Feeding the cartridges is great, but that is all I've done with it. Never fired it and it is in the safe with a bunch of other unfired ones.

I run a 224 grendel. ( now the 22 ARC) ( using Lapua 220 Rusian Brass) In a Howa Mini action that used to be a 7.62x39 barreled action. the x39 magazines work great, no issues.

In my CZ 527's I shoot a modified 220 Beggs, 22PPC, 6mm Beggs, 6.5 Grendel, 30 PPC and 30x39 Lapua.
All feed find from the magazine.
