22 WMR twist rate

What is the best twist rate for 22 WMR ? I've seen both 1-9 and 1-16. What are the advantages/disadvantages between them ?

1-16 for the higher velocity ammo. 1-9 for the slower velocity heavier projectile pistol type ammo. (that is not as prevalent)
1-16 will work for "most" ammo that is 40-45 gr. and less. - I myself wouldn't even consider a 1-9 twist for this cartridge in any kind of a long-gun. (rifle).

The Ruger American rimfires have a 1 in 14" twist. I believe Lilja's 22 WMR "drop in" barrels are 1 in 15" twist. I am not aware of any rifle manufacturer that offers a 1 in 9" twist. On a rebarrel one could probably get whatever one wants as the 22WMR groove diameter is .224.

A couple of Savage 22 WMR's use a 1 in 9 twist. Just wondering if there was some kind of advantage to using it ?
