22 wmr remington accu-tips in tube mags?

I purchased a box of 22 wmr with accu-tips, I was searching the web to learn more about them and midway usa has a notice not to use them in tubular magazines. I looked on the Remington web site and it says nothing about it. Should I play it safe? just single shot it? I can't return them. I could always sell them. The rifle is a lever-action Winchester 9422m.

I have heard of the possibility of "pointy" bullets causing accidental detonation in Centerfire tube magazine guns . I would think (my opinion only) that a pointed projectile would not be cause for concern with a rimfire cartridge. Actually I would think that a more pointed bullet would be less likely to make contact with the rim area of a rimfire than a more "standard" bullet profile......

Be it known that this is just my .02 on this subject.... ;)

Anytime someone (with established credibility and knowledge) puts out a "CAUTION" warning about a product, I always opt to be on the safe side. If you choose to go ahead and ignore a caution warning, then the consequences are yours to own since you were warned. I would never expose any of my rifles to a potential know problem, especially a detonation issue. But it's your rifle to treat as you see fit. Just my thoughts.

I think the problem is you are going to crush, bend or deform the tips and end up with meplats that look like a witches nose.

I have shot several boxes through my marlin tube 22 mag with no problems and good accuracy. I haven't ever heard of this warning. but I'm sure you could easily trade this ammo for another type.

VERY Good point, Alex......

I ran them years ago in an old Winchester slide action 22 wmr with tubular magazine of my fathers with no problem! As far as accuracy goes I feel they are inferior to the CCI 40gr. hp 22 wmr ammunition. Those 40gr. CCI bullets anchor a woodchuck pretty well out to 100 yds!!!

I just got an answer from Remington. They stated it would be perfectly safe in tubular magazines. Some minor tip deformation may happen but not much.
