22 Waldog Brass **FOUND**

Bought a 22 Waldog barrel a while back and want to give it a whirl. I have no idea on the condition of the barrel or if it'll even shoot worth a damn but I'd like to find out for myself.

I have a sizing die from Redding actually stamped with '22 Waldog' so I should be good there, but if anyone has brass languishing in a drawer or bucket they want to get rid of please let me know. If the barrel is shot out I don't want to waste a bunch of new 220 Russian brass finding out.

Thanks

You need to know just how far the shoulders need pushed back for your chamber. I chamber my barrels .100 short and then size the brass for a semi crush fit. Kinda importantly

Lee,

The barrel says 'Ratigan 22-100 .243 neck' so I guess it's the second coming of the Waldog not the original -.125" but I think it's what you described above?

Mike Ratigan shot the .100 shorts a lot a few years back. He did well with them He really knew how to make them shoot. I’m sure you’re in good hands.

I have a 20 PPC barrel for a Panda action as well. Great little caliber, screaming velocities. I 'think' it's a straight 20 PPC but the barrel came with pre made brass and dies so I haven't even measured the cases to see if it's the shortened version. Must check that.

I did run 25 rounds through the barrel just to test the action and barrel together and it shot well.

You're right, I actually had a copy of the terrific twenties and that was one that caught my attention. I'm not setup to do that much unfortunately
The 20pup is one cartridge that's on my todo list, I shortened a 22-250 die the required amount to push the shoulders back far enough, now I just need a reamer
Note:- the measurement to shorten a 22-250 die in the terrific twenties is incorrect, it needs shortened more
