.22 tactical rifle

I'm looking for a to most accurate and reliable tactical .22 carbine out there.

I've done quite some research already, but I need some help from you guys.

My two favorites :

- SIG 522
- HK (Walther) 416 .22LR

Some remarks :

- My "research" indicates that the 522 is the most accurate and reliable. But in my country it is also the most expensive (> 800 euro). From a personal point of view, i don't really like the looks of the gun.

- When it comes to looks, the HK416 is my favorit. However, the accuracy seems to be some bit off it seems. I didn't realy hear about reliability issues, except for a nut that came lose in the bolt assembly.

This are the things i learned from viewing forms and youtube. Now I would like to hear about your oppinions ...

Thx

I hear that anschutz makes a tactical carbine that looks something like an FN SCAR. That ought to be pretty accurate . . .?

I bought the Sig 522 as a training aid for my wife and son to go along with our Sig 556's. It has proven to be very reliable and accurate while digesting all different brands of ammunition. I have no complaints what so ever.

I love me some tacticool .22lr's....the most prevalent ones are the Sig 522 and S&W MP15-22

Sig 522
Good:
accurate, more so than most of the others when paired with the 20" match barrel
comes with 2 barrels...so pick your fav.. I shoot mostly the 16", since I shoot suppressed
nice aluminum upper
eats anything you feed it
CHEAP!

Bad:
HEAVY...way heavier than the rest when paired with the 20" match barrel
trigger SUCKS...huge take up, no positive feel on the the break
mags SUCK to load

mp15-22
Good:
Lightweight
almost as accurate as the Sig...haven't shot the performance center model..should be even more accurate
magpul version has nice quick disconnects molded into the lower
Accepts any ar15 trigger
Accepts any ar15 stock/grip/front end rail
Reliable and eats anything

Bad:
Lightweight (sometimes it just feels TOO light)
all polymer...this is a negative to some folks, I never had an issue with it
1/8" c-clip on the bolt sucks...but easy to fix/replace
factory trigger sucks, but jp yellows help a ton

I'm about to purchase an HK branded mp5...and then figure out form 1'ing it

There you say it ... "it ought to ..."

It seems quite nice, aside from the long barrel sticking out.

Unfortunately, it's very new and therefore not much people have tested it.

i have a custom ruger 10/22 with an 18" barrel on it (green mountain .920) that shoots lights out. green mountain also makes a 16" barrel for it as well

I also have a 10/22 with a Green Mountain barrel and with Wolf Match Target shoots extremely well. I recently purchased a Savage MKII/TR. Its very TactiCool and will out shoot the 10/22 hands down. With Wolf ammo, it shoots bug holes at 50yds and will spin my prairie dog target at 100yds 10 out of 10 times and more. Extremely fun rifle to shoot!!

A 10/22 is out of the question. Very hard to come by and i've heard to much bad things about it.

Is there anyone who has experience with the Anschutz MSR RX22? Or is there a place on the internet (forum) were they should know more?

The importer here has already sold 3 of them, but he hasn't heard any feedback from those persons. Prices over here are about 500-600 euro's.

he's not in the US....so that's very much a possibility

10/22's are reliable though...i've NEVER had one with an issue, and i've had a bunch

as for the annie...it's made by GSG...so.....yeah......i'd skip it

sorry, didn't realize he wasn't from the U.S. i think most, if not all of the 10/22 issues lie within the magazines. never had an issue with a factory one, just the aftermarket ones--mostly butler creek

With regard to magazine problems with the 10-22, I have had my share with the aftermarket hi cap mags. I have had a few that worked but very few. There is not a problem now that Ruger is making/distributing their own hi cap mags. I purchased 3 fron CDNN and they have run 100 %.

I have a Nordic Components NC-22 upper on a dedicated DPMS lower. It has an 18" stainless barrel threaded 1/2 x 28, quad rail free float tube. It uses proprietary Blackdog magazines available from Nordic at excellent prices. From a rest at 50 yards with a 1-4 x 20 IOR Valdada glass it will consistantly shoot one hole groups with quality ammo like Wolf Match, S&K Rifle Match and Green Tag.
