Originally, I believe, Dan Dowling created the .22 WalDog: a 0.125" short 22PPC, many opted to go only 0.100" short, but still referred to that as a WalDog. The original case is about equal in capacity to the .222 &1/2 Remington, or, half way between the .222 and .222 Rem. Mag - which is a very good capacity for 50-53 Gr. bullets. That said, .222 and .222 Mag capacities "aren't half bad".
Another decent option is the .220Beggs, also based upon the .220 Russian, but, retaining the body taper and doing some manipulation on the shoulder angle and the radius at the junctions. Since 1997, I have messed with a .220 Russian featuring a 30 Deg. shoulder angle - only gripe: frequent trimming is required.
This ( limited case growth) is what the last iteration of the .220 Beggs addressed: Gene worked out (the radius issue), which is useful improvement.
A variety of powders provide excellent precision potential: H-322; H-4198; Win. 748; H-4895; Lt-32; Lt-30; N-130; N-133 . . . and on & on.

I really liked my various WalDogs.
