Haven't been around for a while, but I got a wild hair and thought I'd go right to the source.
I'd like to build a little low budget walking varminter in 22 PPC.
I've been doing allot of reading and have come up with what I think might work out.
If I'm understanding what I've read on Greg Tannel's web-site, I can have a Remmy bolt modified and Sako extractor added to accommodate the PPC cases.
If that's true, my plan is to lay hands on an SPS in 223. Have Greg (or someone) open the bolt face, add Sako extractor, set the barrel back and rechamber to 22 PPC. I'll toss the stock and pillar bed the barreled action in one of Boyds Walnut drop-ins, and replace the trigger with an older one I have on hand.
Should be able to get into it for under a grand.
What am I missing, if anything?
All input is greatly appreciated.
Oh, I'm pretty sure I'll have to shoot it single shot, which is fine, but since it'll be a light use hunting rig, I'd like to glue the single shot follower in. What do ya'll use? Epoxy, bedding compound, flour and water? ;D
TIA
Charlie
