22 mag ammo

Anybody have suggestions on what might be a better consistant and accurate 22 magnum round. Not a competition round, just good all around ammo.

Good question. I wasn't able to find one a few years back. Three or four in a group plus 1-1.5 inch flyers at 100 yards. The serious folks were replacing the powder and bullets in the factory rounds. I bedded the action in a custom stock and experimented with barrel up pressure; waste of time.

I use CCi hollow points. 40 grain. But they are hard to find. I do have a few thou on hand. I see Hornaday stuff is in the shops around here and in SLC.. Saw a ton at the Denver Cabelas. I have had good luck with the basic Winchester stuff too.

RWS, when you can find it. It isn't the least expensive, but you didn't ask for the cheapest. It is the most consistent and hardest hitting 22 WMR ammo I have used. The field line consists of a flat point and a hollow-point soft point.

I cut my varmint hunting teeth using a .22 mag 53 years ago. IME, I never seen an accurate .22 Mag chambering. Conversely the .17 HMR far outperforms the .22 mag in terms of accuracy, distance, and terminal performance.

I FOUND MY RIFLE LIKE WIN 40GR HP AS GOOD AS ANYTHING BUT LIKE SAID VERY FEW CONSIST 22MAG THAT I'VE SEEN

My Marlin likes Win Supreme 33 gr. I had heard folks say that 22 mag wasn't accurate and wondered what they were talking about. I found out when I shot a few others. Mine is very accurate - with that ammo.

Never really put mine on paper to speak of. Shot daisy heads at 100 on a bet. Killed all sorts of stuff with it from 50 to 150. I leave that gun the way it is:)
