22 Mag ammo

I just picked up a 22 Mag barrel for my Sako Quad. Anybody have any suggestions for the most accurate ammo ?

The Hornady 30 gr. Vmax is pretty accurate in lots of 22 Mag rifles. CCI Maxi-mag HP's shoot well in my 22 mag.

like any rimfire rifle your going to have to buy some different brands and try them, I own several different 22 mags and they each like something different.

Winchester Super X hollowpoints have been surprisingly accurate in several different rifles. Not the best in any of them but not bad in any of them either. Rem Premier is somewhat better, but looking over targets shot with the only .22 mag rifle I have left, it likes the Hornady 30gr Vmax best.

I've tried about 10 different kinds of .22 mag ammo, and these 3 are the most consistent. So far, no rifle I've shot (several Marlins, 1 Savage, and an H&K mod 300), has consistently shot 1 moa at 50 yds or 100 yds. It is one of the most ammo sensitive calibers I shoot.

I used CCI 40gr TMJ's in my AR15 for a long range BR silhouette match. In my testing they were more accurate than the CCI 40gr hollowpoint. I only missed one ram at 205 yds due to a weak round which can bite you with even high dollar 22lr ammo. Disappointing to say the least but that's rimfire.

This rifle has an Anschutz 22lr match bbl blank and is probably more accurate than your typical 22 mag. I no longer have my notes but iirc the groups were under 1/2" at 50 yds.

I did section one of the TMJ bullets and the bullet was very well made and with a good looking jacket.
