22 JR Varminter info needed

Many years ago a gunsmith by the name of JE Gebby was working on a wildcat 22 caliber that would later become the 22/250. While he was doing so he also had a 22 Senior Varminter which was the 257 Roberts necked down and a Junior Varminter which I understand was a 32-40 case necked down. Does anybody have any information on the Jr Varminter case dimensions? I asked this on Saubier with no responses. I am curious as to how this might have compared to the Donaldson Wasp and other period wildcats. I had never heard of this cartridge before until recently reading about the history of the 22/250 and am curious as to why this version never caught on in the day when Hi-walls were readily available. Thanks. Tom

It was based on the 32-40 Ballard case - a bad choice.

If it had been based on the 30-30, it probably would been successful, and the 219 DW would have probably not been born.

How does the 32-40 Ballard case differ from the 30-30 or 32-40 winchester? I assume making brass for a 22 JR would not be feasible today. Thanks. Tom

Shorter and fatter.

But the important thing is that it was a case that was on the way out - it would like designing a wildcat on the .225 Winchester - why, when brass is so hard to get, it would be doomed from the start.
