22 Hornet velocity

Finally got to chronograph my Hornet Loads :
Winchester Brass
Remington 6 1/2 primer
Nosler 40 grain ballistic tip
13 gr Lil-Guns
Average : 2890 fps

I'm sure some are getting higher velocity but I am very happy with this out of my 21" Contender Carbine.. I've been using this load for years with good success on yotes. I'd be curious to know what you guys are getting.

After I posted i thought I should mention my Contender was my first dedicated Centerfire coyote gun . I bought it in 1991 because the Ruger Hornet was hard to get. It has turned out to be one of my most used field guns because it is very light . Originally it was equipped with a 3X9 but now wears a 4X12. Not that it needs the magnification but I shoot European Starlings in the late winter and they are not very big and hard to see in a field. Originally I loaded AA1680 and with 40 gr ballistic tips and it Chronographed about 2600 fps . The yotes couldn't tell the difference between 1680 and Lil-Gun but I know.

I'm shooting a savage model 25 22 hornet.
Win. brass
rem. 7 1/2
hornady 35 gr. v-max
13.5 gr. lil-gun
average velocity...3052 fps.

I also have a Savage Model 40 in 22 Hornet . It is very accurate with 50 gr Midway Dog Town pointed soft tips and 13 gr of Lil -Gun but I don't have any velocity data. It is a neat gun but not as handy as the Contender.

I'm getting 2970 fps with only 10.3 gr of li-gun behind a 40 vmax. I had to look up my numbers to be sure. it is a 22k hornet however on a martini cadet action. I also tried aa1680 and had good results but slower speeds. next time I go to the range I am going to re chronograph them just to be sure. you have me doubting my notes.

Kimber 82, 50 V Max and max load of Lil Gun runs right at 2800. Makes a beautiful thwop when it hits a coyote!

C.Sharps Highwall M1885 w/26" #3 Octagon bbl, .22 Hornet, Rem brass, CCI SPP, Hornady 40gr , Lee FC .002, 13.0 Lil-Gun, 3022fps. I notice the bbl heats up much faster than with IMR4227.
