22 Hornet loaded with a Pellet

I ran into some old CCI primers( Box with CCI in a diamond). Has to be from the 60's. I don't want to waste good powder and bullets making some bad ammo.
Thinking about loading some 22Hornet brass, an topping it off with a 22cal air gun pellet.
Anyone do this? Results?
Thanks

I tried it 12 years ago. Not worth the effort. Couldn't hit a garbage can from 25 feet. I used up my questionable primers for fireforming k-hornet cases with cream of wheat and about 4 grains of pistol powder.

I use to do that back in the 70’s in a Thomason Contender, I invirted the pellet ( nose in 1st) killed a lot of squirrels in the backyard

I did that and results were pretty good. As good as a pellet gun. But I stopped because I fired one at a little varmint on a stack of firewood about 20 feet away and the pellet bounced back and struck near me. It reminded me of when I was a kid, a BB bounced back from a wood pile and hit me in the thigh. Even through heavy jeans it hurt and raised a welt.

I guess as long as you have a safe backstop (nothing hard) it should work OK. Eye protection for sure!

Why would it be bad ammo just because the primers are vintage? If stored well they should be serviceable.
I was gifted a fair bit of supplies quite a few years ago, powder and primers. Probably close to 30k of primers. I used them and never had a problem.

Got a BUNCH of Remington primers when my shooting Buddy died. They had to be at least 20 years old, stored on a shelf in an open garage. The canister powder next to the primers was in cardboard cans with the bottoms leaking all over the shelf.
Powder made good fertilizer and not one of the primers FTF in my M1A. ;)
