22 creedmoor

I have a Remington 700 SPS Varmint chambered in 223 and I want to convert it to a 22 creedmoor. Now I know I will have to change my bolt face and have the barrel reemed for it. An it’s a factory 1 in 8 twist so I’m thinking I’ll be fine with that. An I also plan to purchase a mdt lss gen 2 chassi and using a magazine to feed it. Am I missing anything to complete this build?

What do you mean when you say ‘fit the bolt’?

You may find going with a remage 1:7 twist barrel and donor 308 bolt a better option comparing the gunsmithing charge for reaming (and wait time), especially if you may want to load the heavier bullets.

Feed rails on a .223 are narrower than say a .308 so they’ll probably need to be opened up even with an external mag.

8T at 22CM speeds will do well with many of the heavy’s. Lots of 22-250 Tikka’s out there do great and a fair number are taking those out to 22CM and shoot heavy’s no problem.

Man theres folks out there that would gladly trade you the correct medium action for your rare-er short action and not have to butcher it up

Are you calling the standard long action a medium action?

Should be totally fine. The Tikka 8T do well with the 88 ELD M’s in 22-250 and the 22-250’s re-chambered to 22CM.
