22 Creedmoor todays results

It was a cold windy day at the public range in the Reno, NV desert. Does anyone use XXL reloading for load data?
A few shooters suggested I use 6.5 Staball . But xxl loading didn't list that as desirable. So today I burned Re#16 N550 and W-W760. All loads behind 77gr Sierra TGK bullets. I have a 4 grove Muller Works cut rifled bbl. I swear to you two bullets didn't make it to the target. Previously I loaded up this bullet with a Max charge of Ramshot Magnum powder and none of them made it to the target! I've never had this happen to any other brand of bullets. In fact, I've shot 60gr Sierra green tip bullets with zero problems.
Today's results Re#16 40 grs average was 3463 SD of 15.2 they shot very well except for a flyer that ruined the group it was windy.
N550 40grs average 3422 SD of 10.3 It also shot well except for a flyer Then W=-W 760 40.5grs Average was 3426 SD od 15.9 all the loads shot good.
Also fired 5 Hornady factory loads 80 gr ELDm Average was 3,263 SD 7.2 They shot well but with a flyer also. I pulled one of these cartridges. 40.9 grs of some kind of Ball powder, maybe Superformance? For my Prairie Dog trip, maybe I'll buy some 75 or 80 gr ELDs.

You may have lost some bullets. Was it the TGK, or did you mean the TMK? The 77 TMK doesn't have the toughest jacket. The TGK has a tougher jacket but as far as I know is only made in a 64 grain flavor. Some hot 22 cals, thin jacket bullets, and cut rifle barrels don't agree.

I will say you are pushing them pretty good if you are at 3400+ with 77 gr bullets. The Hornady velocity of 3260 is more reasonable for 80's.

I shoot the 80 ELDX specifically because it has a thicker/tougher jacket. I haven't lost any but my velocities are moderate (3250 or so) and my round count is not super high at this point.

Yes, your right TMK. Your explanation makes perfect sense.

Maybe the OP needs to Slow down, the velocity to, .22-250 Velocities to keep, the Bullets,.. "intact",..
3250 to 3,300 fps Maximum, should work,. Fine ( he could Find, a Lower "Accuracy Node", maybe ?? )

I'm going to switch to Hornady ELD bullets. Post #4 says the TMK has a thinner jacket than TGK. No other bullet has disintegrated. I'll maintain the 22-250 velocities in my 12" twist 22-250.

Hornady Engineers, "Probably" took, the .22 Creedmoor Velocities, into Consideration when Designing, the 75 and 80 grain ELD-M's,.. "Hopefully" !
( I'd Bet that, they,.. DID ! )

Cold and windy?
I would basically expect some flyers, unless you are a good wind reader. I’d retest on a calmer day using wind flags. I wouldn’t think the 77 TMK would be coming apart?
My rifle range is in the desert, no trees to gauge the wind. When I make it to the Prairie Dogs in WY, I'll be able to read the grass.
