Well i did the math. 3,500 fps is not good for em in a 8 twist if that’s trueIt's not what bullet. Any bullet run slow enough will hold together.
How fast do you want to push it?
Use this calculator, Speed in FPS X 720 = # then divide by your barrel twist
gives you your RPM's
Most will say anything above 305,000 is pushing it. 315,000 is tops for long periods.
Keep your barrel clean and don't run long strings to increase the fire cracking.
Some bullets will hold up better than others.
Yes, you should have no problems. Will the 60gr vmax hold together in a 1:8 twist 22 creedmoor 24” long ? I’m itching to shoot it tomorrow I just got the rifle put together but don’t have any of the 62 eld vt to try just yet Thanks guys
Just wondering, how many total rounds did you get on either barrel?Yes, you should have no problems.
A couple years ago, I built a 26" 22CM on an 8 twist Wilson barrel to shoot 75elds(3400fps). I also built a 24" 22-250ai on a 12 twist Douglas to shoot 53's(4000fps).
After returning from a PD trip, I decided to see if I could shoot 53's through the CM. I loaded the same charge as I was running in the AI(but didn't chrono it), and shot 6 of them at 1000. All 6 made it and grouped decently(for 53's @1000).
I switched to 62 VT's in the 8 twist CM and run them @3730 with no issues.
IThey are what I do plan on shooting. HopefullyYes, you will be fine.
Keep us posted on your load and results. The 62Vt would be sweet.
I'm at 1000 rounds on the Creed and only about .010" of freebore erosion(surprising low).Just wondering, how many total rounds did you get on either barrel?
