22 Cal PMA Neck Turning Mandrel Size Question

I just received a PMA neck turning tool with a 22 cal. neck turning mandrel. How loose of a fit should there be between the outside of the neck turning mandrel and the inside diameter of the case.

Measured O.D. of 22 cal mandrel: 0.2015”

Measured I.D. of a resized 223 case: 0.2215”

0.02” seems loose.

If I use the 22 cal expander mandrel it increases the clearance even more. The expander mandrel measured 0.2220”outside diameter.

Thanks

Is it marked as 22 cal? sounds like you got a .204 cal mandrel.

you should only have .001 between the expander mandrel and the turning mandrel you use. so if the expander is .2220 you’d expect the turning mandrel to be .2210

Thank you for the quick response. The bag it came in is marked PCM-1022. This is the correct model number for the 22 cal carbide neck turning mandrel.
