22 cal 30gr Calhoon double HP

Anyone have any experiance with this bullet out of a 223 on Coyotes or fox? I am looking to see if this bullet will not exit on coyote or fox? I normally use the 30gr Berger but only have about 20 left and they do not make the bullet anymore.

I spoke with Calhoon and they figure if I can drive this around 3800 FPS it would do what I want. If you have another light weight bullet that does not exit feel free to mention them. Thanks

I can't speak to the 30s but I shot the 52s out of a 22-250 and 223. Rarely an exit on coyotes and nickle sized if they did, never shot a fox with them.

I shot 22 Cal Calhoun's. I found them to be as accurate and as splat effective as vmax. I shot then in 22- k hornet, 40 grains. The Quicksilver stuff seemed not to adversely effect anything either. Cool bullet

Nope...a .223 caliber rifle isn't nearly enough.
That's why so many predator callers use it.

From the quote, I would say that the guy who originally wrote that...probably thinks that the ONLY rifles that are .223 caliber, are ARs (ya know...those BAD, BAD "machine guns".)
That terminology...calling them "machine guns"...tells me that the guy seriously knows squat about guns. Although I wasn't in the military, I do know several people who were, or are. And not a single one of them called the military version of the AR, a "machine gun".
But then again, what I call "machine guns", are the old Thompson (Tommy gun); the Uzi; and anything that is belt fed.
So maybe I'm the one who doesn't know squat about guns.

I have had good luck with the 2-300 ive shot. they come apart soon after impact. cant imagine them exiting an animal? I don't guess you can tear the jackets into? Ive shot em in a 22 hornet, 222 and 22-250 AI and never had one come apart with the later. Guessin they are upwards of 4,500 FPS with the 36gr. Turtles do some not so appetizing things when they get hit while on top of a log. Honestly its like a firework show! don't shoot one soon after a meal. Just saying!
