22 BRX Need Help

Hey guys, I have a 22 BRX 7 twist that i am ready to start loading for and wanted some help or advice.

First and foremost i cant find dies so that's a problem and if anyone had any recommendations it would be greatly appreciated. What would be the process if any that you would use if I wanted to use my existing 6br dies or was willing to buy 22 br dies? What could i use for the body when i needed to bump it?

secondly does anyone have anyone have any loads for heavy bullets for both shooting the heavies 80-90 grainers as well as a good fireforming load?
thanks guys and and all help appreciated.
all the best
Don

I have a couple of them but they are slow twist so I can't help you with load data. I really like mine.

The die issue is no problem. Your dies will need to be raised up approximately .10" higher than they would be for a 22BR. You may have to do a couple runs to get them perfect but it isn't that hard if you have a bushing sizing die. Just remove the bushing and run it down on the case by hand till it contacts the shoulder. I set mine to lightly bump the shoulder each time I resize so I don't have to adjust my die up and down when I want to bump shoulders. You could also set it to bump about .003" then get a piece of .003" shim stock and cut a shim to use under the lock ring when you want to just neck size with no bump. Or, you could get a 22 BR body die and set it up as your bump die and your standard sizer for neck sizing. Or, you could contact Whidden and get a set of their dies which I have heard are great quality. Anyway, you get the point. I just use what I have on hand, which is a set of 6BR bushing dies with a Competition Seater die.

You will also have to size the lower portion of the case that is not sized after you fireform and move your dies up to size the BRX cases. You may get by with 1 or 2 loadings in BRX form but you will get the "click" at the top of your bolt lift. I had a spare 243 Winchester FL die that I took the guts out of and run my BRXs into it to size the bottom end. You just need to lightly size this area but without custom dies, this is the only way to do it. Gets rid of the click and they chamber great. Good luck and let us know how it works. If you have questions, let me know.

can't help with load data but get a full length die and save your self a lot of headache. I shoot 6brx and have a redding bushing die I bump the shoulders .002 each reloading. another thing that helps with accuracy is annealing case necks. makes seating force much more consistent. good luck and good shooting

Thanks guys on the sizing tips its greatly appreciated.

If anyone has any load data its appreciated or ill just start with 22 br loads and work my way up slowly and carefully.
