22 brx dies

I already have 6mm br redding type s die set and am wondering if i can use these for a 22 brx. I have read about neck bushing and understand that and i have .243 sizing die i can use for the bottom part of the case which i also understand. Will the redding body die work for bumping the shoulder back, and do i only resize the bottom of the case with the 243 die when i bump the shoulders? I also removed the bullet seating plug on my 6br die and it looks like it will work for .224 bullets hits about .2" above the ogive on the 80 amax, will this work?

Yuppers........Should work just fine.

I personally have NOT done it this way,BUT i do know of others that have done it this way and had no problems...

Phil.

ZSteinle,
Welcome to the forum, I don't have a print for a 22br in front of me but if memory serves me then yes you could use the 6br bushing die to size the neck with the correct bushing and bump the shoulder, you have to raise the die approximately .098 off the shell holder after the case has been formed from the standard br case to the improved brx case to set the shoulder back the correct amount (about .001) You will also need a body die from the .308 family, I use a 7mm-08 body die that will size the base of the case. I won't comment on the seating die, I have done some weird things from time to time to make things work, you can buy the correct stem and sleeve from redding that will fit in your die body.

i hope to shoot my 22brx today. i also have redding 6 br dies and have used them to prep my brass and resize after fireforming using the cow method. a .247 bushing with the die set higher than it would be as a 6br works. you have to adjust until the neck is sized as far as allowed. my chamber neck is .251 in, so i have to turn necks and use the .247 bushing which actually sizes the neck to .2465(redding bushings seem to do this,,,brass spring back?). loaded neck is .248 allowing .003 clearance in the neck portion of the chamber. the base may not have to be sized every firing. but the 6br body die does squeeze it a little bit and will push the shoulder back as needed. i remove the firing pin assembly and EJECTOR when checking headspace on cases as i push the shoulder back and swear i can feel the difference of.001 thous in! don't use the 6br seater since i shoot a 22 br as well and got a redding 22 br seater. i size the base with a 243 ackley body die if i feel a slight resistence and "click" at the end of bolt lift...a sure sign the case at the web is too large. a bit more work, this cartridge, but it should shoot great. there are a few 22brx shooters here, so keep us updated. thanks.
