22 BR

I have a 22BR in a Cooper VarTac, and looking for some reloading data. It has a 26" barrel, with a 1-14" twist. I don't know if it has a Norma chamber or regular BR chamber.

Have you checked out the 22BR page on the home page of this site? Several good loads listed there. I list loads with 35-90 grain bullets.

Luck, Tim

I have, and broke my barrel in with them. A 1-14" twist... didn't think would stabilize anything over a 55 gr. ?? Do I need to go 60+ up??

It won't - don't waste your time and money.

Try AA2015 or IMR8208XBR my go to powders for the last 20 or so years. Man I am getting old. Lol.

With the 14 twist you are likely limited to the 40-50gr. bullets.

You might want to try a box of the 53gr. Vmax bullets to see if you can get enough velocity to stabilize them.

Lots of good powders out there, what do you currently posess, or can get your hands on????

Phil.

yesterday my 14 tw 22 BR shot one hole groups with 55 AND 60gr bergers using n 135. getting around 3700 fps with the 55s. the gun will also group 63 cheeks nicely but i usually shoot them in the 12 tw 22 BR. i'm impressed with the 22 BR in that it seems to shoot nice groups with a variety of powders from LT 32 to n 540.

I have access to most of the IMR/Hodgen powders offered. I have several 40&50 gr. bullets on hand, and can get some 55 to try. I didn't know which to start with, the 50's, 52's or push the heavier ones with velocity. I have still got to find the lands with a bullet I'm going to use. I'm ready to start loading some test loads, so I can be ready for the next calm day to try them.
Thanks for the replies, I'll try to get some loads worked up for the year's crop damaging varmint shoot.

My 22BR 12 twist likes 55gr. down to 40 gr. bullets. Have shot some very small holes with 40 gr. V Max. Go to powder is W748. :)

You might wanna try some Benchmark also. I use that and 8208 with the 52gr Blitzkings for yotes, fox, and groundhogs. Works great and very accurate

Ok Ty, where do I need to start with the IMR8208 and 52's?
I got some Benchmark loaded up tonight with 50 gr. BK sitting on top for trying.

I have a 22Br with a 14 T Hart barrel. shoots the old 60 gr Hornady hp flat base , I've shot 1" groups at 300 many times. I used it once for deer, loaded Speer 70 gr. shot moa at 100 yards.
Most 50-60 grain bullets will stabilize in a 14 T.
When I built this rifle , there were no fast twist barrel's .
I bought 5000 of the Hornady 60gr at $ 68 a thousand.
long time ago.. Vince Pastorella built this rifle.

Thanks for the replies guys. I loaded some 50gr. BK's over some Benchmark. Now waiting for weather to break so I can try it out...
I sent some emails to different powder manufactures for some load data that isn't listed for the little 22BR, but the 6mm BR is listed on their books for it. Haven't heard anything back yet.
