22 br varmint loads

I use 29.6gr of Benchmark behind a 50gr. Vmax. Rem 7 1/2 primer with a 1-12 twist barrel. Not sure on velocity as I have not ran them through a chrony.

I HAVE (2) 22BR 'S MY GO TO LOAD IS 32.8 GRS VARGET 52GR BERGERS 450 CCI ABOUT 3400 FPS OUT OF MY 12TWIST BUT IT SHOOTS LIGHTS OUT!!!!!!!! 16.5''
KREGIER BARREL OTHER ONE IS A 1.250 NO TAPER SELECT MATCH SHILEN 12 TWIST
26'' I ALSO SHOOT THE SIERRA 55GR BTHP ALSO

You mentioned 12 twist, I need to ask because I cannot figure it out.

What is the 12 twist needed for that the 14 can't handle, seems there's a bunch of 50-55g bullets that the 14 will handle like a champ, to me the 12 would handle ones in the 56-60g class but there aren't that many out there especially when compared to the number of 50-55g bullets available.

I'm really curious because I've seen a good amount of 12t out there and just could figure out there niche.

53gr. Vmax is one....

It`s longer than the 55 and i believe the 60, but i don`t have any 60`s to check so thats just repeating what i`ve been told.

Phil.

my 12 twist will one hole berger's 64 gr varmint bullets while my 14 tw will not. 63 cheeks(almost a match bullet) will also bughole. 65 JLK's VLD won't group in the 14 but will overlap in the 12. 60 VMAX shoots better in the 12 tw. my 14 tw does best with 52-60 and can really generate speed with the 52s...3700 fps.

Thanks, I can't seem to find anything on the 65 JLK VLDs on their website, are they a new offering?

THEY DIDN'T SHOOT AS WELL,I DID SHOOT SOME 55GR BTHP SIERRA'S W/VERY ACCURATE RESULTS

The jlk 65 and 60 gr 22cal bullets are actually called LD for low drag...sorry for calling them VLD. They are flat base and look VLD and stabilize better in my 12tw. The 60s will group best in the 12 tw. Berger 60 will group nicely in the 14 ...they have longer bearing surfaces.

one really nice thing about the 22 BR is that it will shoot with a large assortment of powders when using the lighter bullets...up to 64 gr. fast twist and heavies, i'm not sure as i have an 8 tw and it only shoots small hole with 77 smks and varget. a firmly bedded receiver goes a long way in allowing this cartridge to shine.

got 22 br back from smith.it has 14 twist.had smith open up chamber for lapua cases.it shot ok wiy
th remington.now will see with lapua.have custon 52 grain bullets no coated.remington 7 1/2 primers and fed primers what do you think would be a great powder for it now.also what about primers.i have not shot this gun in 2 years so i assume there are better powders around and primers.
